A pupil with a Canadian licence wants to take a manual test in the UK. Does he need a provisional licence and a theory test? Can a Ukrainian licence holder exchange an automatic licence for a manual one, or do they need to take tests? Can my pupil from the Netherlands drive on his Dutch licence in the UK? I am giving up driving instruction, how do I notify the DVSA and can I get a refund for the remaining time on my licence?

Can my pupil from the Netherlands drive on his Dutch licence in the UK?

Yes, if it’s a full Dutch licence, they can drive for 3 years or until age 70, whichever is longer. If they’re a permanent resident, they can either register the licence with the DVLA (Form D9) or exchange it for a GB licence before turning 70. Both options are free.
