Before I start the process of becoming a driving Instructor, is there any way of checking if I would be suitable for the job? What hours are normal for a PDI to teach each week? I have either lost or had my PDI licence stolen, what should I do? Should I join an association as a PDI or wait until I have qualified? As an ORDIT trainer, can I sign off a PDI’s ADI21 AT form for 20 hours of training if their sponsor is unavailable?

I have either lost or had my PDI licence stolen, what should I do?

You should tell the police straight away if your licence is lost or stolen. They will give you a crime reference number.

You’ll have to pay £3 if you lose your licence or cannot give DVSA a crime reference number. To get a replacement, email Approved Driving Instructor Registrar: [email protected]

The email should include the following:

  • The crime reference number
  • your permission that DVSA can use your photocard driving licence photo or a previous photo they have on record

DVSA will contact you to tell you how to pay.
