  • Tailgating

  • Being cut up

  • Drivers pushing into queues

  • Mobile phone use while driving

  • Undertaking

  • Sudden lane changes on motorways (“swooping”)

  • Excessive or excessively slow speeds

  • Littering from vehicles

  • Middle-lane hogging

Triggers are often perceived as personal, even when they are not, which contributes to the emotional response.
